Remembering Srebrenica is a UK based charity concerned with raising awareness of the Bosnian War, in order that we cease to tolerate hatred in any form in our communities. Rumi’s Circle is pleased to be supporting their work. With the generous support of Chorlton Central Church, Rumi’s Circle have arranged an evening which it hopes will bring together people from all parts of the Greater Manchester community to engage in reflection through multi-faith prayers and poetry.

Dervishes from the Threshold Society Mevlevi Sufi Order will also perform sema (whirling). The Mevlevis follow the wisdom teachings of Rumi, and believe that the whirling dervish fully immersed in remembrance of the Divine becomes a conduit for divine blessing. Whilst organising this event, it has come to our attention that Islam was apparently first bought to Bosnia through the Mevlevi Sufis. It is perhaps appropriate, therefore, that the principles of Mevlevi Sufism will be an integral part of this evening…

Though the conflict ended over 20 years ago, the Bosnian people are faced with many challenges. Healing is needed as much as ever in Bosnia, and right around our precious world. Please join us, and let’s spread some light together…
